This was an awesome read. Loved the pacing, the characters. The way Wagamese is able to show such emotion and restraint at the same time.

Painful! This piece of Canadian history (Residential Schools) is hard to accept. But all the more reason to share the stories and face the truth. I’m considering having my grade 12 students tackle this book. The journey of a trauma survivor is beyond words and by reading something like this we can all gain a little more compassion I think.
