I kind of had a hard time getting through this book, especially for how short of a read it really is. I just honestly haven’t read many books this dated and that’s what I’m going to have to say is what held me back from being captivated. The story itself is actually good and well written, it’s about regret and hatred of yourself and acceptance (or lack there of) and it’s really great to see that this was a very normal thing for gay people in the past! It was great to read something that puts into perspective how far society has come.

So perfectly written and intense. I've felt every bit of passion, pain and fear.
In just two word this book is true and tragic. This is the story of a young man that finds out that when love is denied and pushed away the world just falls apart.
I have no idea how, in a world in which this book exists, humans mange to be so intolerant and hateful towards each other.

“What I mean about being a woman is, we might get married now and stay married for fifty years and I might be a stranger to you every instant of that time and you might never know it.”
