Nick and Charlie are best friends, and continue to spend more and more time together. Charlie has a huge crush on Nick, and is sure the Nick doesn't like him romantically. Nick is battling with his identity, and the idea of coming out to his loved ones.

Heartstopper: Volume Two picks up where the first installment leaves off. In this volume we get to know more about Nick, which I absolutely loved. It's his coming-of-age story as he struggles with understanding his own identity as a bisexual person, and the process of coming out to his loved ones.

The romance between Charlie and Nick continues to blossom. Nellie, the dog, is back and plays a nice role in the narrative. And Nick's mom was a welcome addition. I appreciate the contrasting perspectives, as this paints an accurate picture of what the coming-out experience can be like for some.

Alice Oseman continues to balance a charming, heartwarming story, while intertwining some really important topics. The simplicity of the artwork continues to perfectly covey emotions and expressions.

This volume provided a realistic perspective on the internal struggles of sexual identity, while also providing an informative narrative that sexuality is a spectrum and not simply black and white. I am looking forward to continuing Nick and Charlie's story in the next volume.

Wholesome and sweet. Good bisexual representation here!
My only nitpick is that I found it slightly repetitive how often
the boys apologized profusely to one another for every little thing. It's not a big deal but I did notice it happening a lot. Hopefully as the story goes on they won't feel the need to apologize so much!

I loved this book just as much as the first, if not more. Nick’s coming out was not overdramatic but still emotional, it was tender and raw but simple. It was perfect and helped me start thinking about being brave enough to start coming out to my family as I was already out and proud with my friends.

A great sequel to Heartstopper Volume 1 and a wonderful book in and of itself. Oseman's style continues to delightfully portray the fluidity and action of the characters. I particularly enjoyed the focus on Nick's journey of discovering his bisexuality and the inclusion of Elle as a young trans girl. The book also beautifully frames the difficulty of keeping a relationship a secret in high school, a conflict always fraught with danger. Wonderful book, excited to read volume 3!
