Parts were good, others were not and sadly it wasn't able to hold my attention for very long.
The writing was better than I've seen in the past for a free e-book. It read a bit more like a screen play than a book in someways. Title is kind of disconnected from the story.
Circle of Bones spins a tale that dives back into the past while living securely in the present, with the Caribbean as a lush tropical backdrop.
Mostly when I read fiction that involves sailing, it is either too dull, too overly dramatic, or just doesn't sound right to my sailor's ear. Christine Kling has done a fantastic job of creating an authentic story that takes place on boats. The sailing details aren't overdone, and she even places her characters on powerboats as necessary, to get them places a little faster. :)
Speaking of characters, Maggie Riley is my new favorite fictional female. She's tough, stubborn, able to take care of herself, and yet able to fall in love with the right (and the wrong) guy.
Anyone who enjoys thrillers or maritime history will enjoy this. Anyone who cares about boats (especially sailboats) will probably be adding it to their list of all time favorites, like me.
