I read a version of this with the pictures every other page when I was around 10 or 11. It was such a fun read but it was so long ago. I'd like to read this again.

لاقيتها بالصدفه فقررت اقرأها وأفتكر العاهات اللي كانوا بيدرسوهالنا
انا كنت مقيماها 3 وأنا مش فاكراها لأني فاكره اني كنت بحبها بس لما قرأتها تاني قولت ايه اللي كنا بندرسه دا بجد قصه مفيش اي أفاده

So my review is :
1- Axel fainted 4 times through the Journey.
2- Hans didn't say a word except "No".
3- Events were very fast, they were in June then suddenly they were in August?!!.
4- When Alex saw the giant man he just run, I was like what I wanna know if this man speaks any language, what's his life looks like?!, and so on..

Then the whole novel really sucks :D

I really like this book, and there are some definite flashes of brilliance in terms of the action and ideas. This is definitely an adventure novel from another time-the painstaking research that Verne did is evident in the language and general detail.

My biggest issue with the book is the excessive scientific detail without a balance of narrative. I barely had the English skills to wade through the jargon, and for a significant portion of the book, I simply didn't connect. Secondarily, I didn't entirely understand the dynamic between the main characters-it felt a bit stilted. This really wasn't a significant element of the book, as the characters paled in comparison to the scientific language.

I enjoyed the book and definitely intend to read more of Verne's work, though I'm having an inkling that I may not be the reader of Verne's work.

I recommend to any who enjoy adventure novels, especially those looking for more involved prose. I give a huge shout-out to the translator for this effort, as the language requirements for both French and English are immense.
