Let's be honest I was mainly listening to this for Tim Curry's narration.

This book was easy to read, but the plot wasn't particulary exciting. I liked the characters.
I found this book really underwhelming. I appreciate that it's one of the earliest science fiction novels, and therefore what was innovative now may be less so, but I was irritated by how obvious and easy the set up was, and I also felt like too much of the book was dedicated to them solving the mystery of the code, traveling to the mountain, and lost in the bowels of the earth. Things really picked up once they got into the part of the earth with plants and water and whatnot, but, really, it took much too long to get there. I wouldn't recommend this book for various reasons, although I will still give the other Jules Verne classics a try, simply because they are such well known names.
I enjoyed the strange tale, though the attempts at making the story seem scientifically viable were my least favourite aspect of it. I like the book best when it focussed on the characters behaviour in the fantastical situations they were thrown into.
Once again Verne makes use of fainting as a means to gloss over the details of difficult transitions in the action. Oh well, it's still captivating and fun to read.
