Richtig gut geschrieben, konnte man in kurzer Zeit sehr flüssig durchlesen.

Speaking plainly, this book is Not Good. It is poorly written, littered with cliches and repetition, and heaps of the plot is completely unbelievable - even before the revelation about her psychosis Nola comes off as developmentally challenged and dull as dishwater and it is completely inconceivable that a great intellect double her age could possibly fall so deeeply in love with her. It is also completely implausible that any author would achieve the level of fame that Marcus Goldman does - to the point where he can't go out in Manhattan anymore for being recognised, nor that police would involve a civilian in their murder investigation as they do with Goldman. The whole thing is completely absurd, and quite a cringey, laborious read. I only kept going in order to find out whodunnit. And that said, all the twists and turns at the end are so unsatisfactory...the best crime novels drop enough breadcrumbs along the way that after the conclusionthe reader can look back and go "aha, that's why such and such was in the kitchen the day after the disappearance" and it's so much more rewarding than finding out it was some bit part character who'sbarely featured in the story...
