This is a horror by del Toro - there's gore, body horror, and violence with a dark mysticism.

Ever see the movie Fallen, with Denzel Washington and John Goodman? Yeah, it's like that only not as good. I should have known better after the Strain trilogy took a nosedive in the third book. Just utterly conventional and pretty devoid of imagination. I won't read more and am kind of annoyed with myself that I bothered with this one.
