Incredible book. Love seeing the foundations of Luke building a new jedi order

once I actually got invested in the storyline it became easier to read, but if I wasn't a diehard fan who just wanted to fill in the parts referenced in other Star Wars books, I would have lost interest within the first ten pages

Dumb fun, but kind of lame compared to the tone and complexity of the Old Republic stuff and the Thrawn trilogy. Not as bad as other reviewers on Goodreads led me to believe. I did like it.

More like 3.5. It was definitely enjoyable, just nothing special. A few good character moments and many of the concepts such as the state of a remote Empire fleet with no clue they lost and finding latent force-users across the galaxy (which reminded me of season 3 of Korra) kept my interest high, established great possibilities for the other 2 books and beyond, and overall push it closer to a 4 than a 3.

Jedi Search is shockingly about Luke's initial search for potential Jedi for his academy. It's pretty nice to see how all the main players from the films are progressing throughout the aftermath of the initial defeat of the Empire, and how they use their special skills to help each other.
Han makes a fateful return to Kessel. Lando spends some quality to trying to get C3P-O to shut up. Leia is trying to balance being a mother with the duties of a minister. R2-D2 is just being the typical parent, always being the key to saving everyone's asses when shit gets bad.
