First of all, I absolutely love anything witch related because, I mean, witches are amazing. But also, I just adore the puppy love that's captured in this book. Thea and Eric are soulmates but Eric is definitely an adorable holden retriever and Thea is a sweet little pup too and they are just very cute together. I read this when I was younger and I still remember the gruesome scene with Randy. When rereading this book today, my veins filled with ice at reading that scene. It's just written really well.

I think obviously there are things that I would've wanted added or changed. I think I would've wanted their kiss to be something more than what it was. Also, I would've wanted there to be more sweet moments between Thea and Eric where they really were falling in love. But, instead it was very much insta-love which I don't feel strongly about either way. It's just not my favorite trope. But otherwise, a very engaging and entertaining read!!

"In Spellbinder the plot centers on Thea and Blaise Harman, cousins who belong to the race of witches. Although they are as close as sisters, in temperament the girls are as different as day from night; Thea belongs to Circle Twilight, for the not-so-wicked-witches and Blaise belongs to Circle Midnight, for the darker ones. When the two cousins start fighting over Eric Ross there ensures an epic battle between black and white magic." (From Amazon)

A great paranormal romance series. For fans of Twilight and Christopher Pike.

What can I say? This one is about witches and I LOVE witches. This one did fall a bit flat for me though, but I think that has more to do with how L.J. Smith does her storytelling and less to do with the story itself.

Definitely an entertaining read and would recommend this if you've liked the first two in the series so far.

TEAM WITCH, y'all. I think this one was my favorite of the three- animals, witchery, no vampires, women all errwherre. I would have been PISSED if she'd drunk from the Cup of Lethe. So. That's good. This is also the one that has a "militant feminist" pre-teen in it. Her guinea pig is oppressed by the patriarchy, y'all.

I read this series when it first came out back in 1996...still waiting for the final book. And I loved it as much 23 years later.

2019 PopSugar Reading Challenge: #2 Book that makes you nostalgic

One of the problems with reading a series like this for a challenge comes with not having a break in-between the stories. Third one in and though the story is different and features different characters, it still felt rather 'samey'.
This time round we focus on sisters Blaise and Thea, and their battle (I can't help but see it that way for the majority of the story) for human Eric.
These two witches do - as we might come to expect - have powers at their disposal and we come to learn a little more about the life of the witches in the Night World. Both are prepared to break the rules, and - of course - we have Thea realising that Eric is her soulmate and she has to decide if she's willing to risk everything for love. I was surprised that the people around them seemed so oblivious to what was going on, because they were hardly subtle and the effects of their actions were hard to overlook.
Gripes aside, this is pretty good fun and entertaining reading though I'm not sure I'll feel the need to read any more of the series.
