I didn’t realize this was about suicide before reading it?? But it was handled so well. What an interesting way to perceive that period between life and death and alternate universes. How clever! What an awesome read!!
Loved Nora as a character too! Flawed but so loving and really trying her best. So much talent and skill too.

it was good but not that memorable, it feels like a “say no to depression, be happy, live love laugh” post from instagram tbh

Ahhh so good! Midnight Library forced me to sit down and think. It explores so many interesting themes and questions: living with regret, the meaning of life, what it means to be successful, living to please others, realizing potential, finding contentment and love for oneself.
This will be one book that stays with me for a long time.

This book is so widely read and reviewed that I don’t feel the need to review it. I’m just going to say I really enjoyed it, and it was very uplifting and good for my overall mental health. So, now I’m going to go off on a tangent that hopefully someone can benefit from.
Oh, regret. It can drown a person. I know it has me. In my opinion, I think regret is a symptom of depression, and I think the heavier it feels, the worse the person’s depression is. It’s also such a human feeling- everyone at least regrets something, even if it is innocuous. That job you turned down? The shirt you didn’t buy? The friend you told something to, and they broke your confidence? Not studying hard enough for a test? These small regrets make up the human experience...
...but what if, the very things we’ve been regretting, were actually the right decision? What if we studied for that test and got an A, so we went out to celebrate & got hit by a car and killed? What if taking that job means you wouldn’t have met the love of your life? And what if not buying that shirt means you had time to have sexy time that night, and you had your child because of it?
All of this to say: you could just as easily have regretted doing the thing you currently regret NOT doing. And you can’t change it anyway. I’ve been there; I know it’s easier said than done. But try to just look forward. Try so hard. You can do it. I believe in you
