Let the man mourn in peace.
A wonderful story from the pen of Ann Omasta and Callie Love about life and death and redemption.
Sometimes your spouse creates an avenue for you to mourn and find your way back to love.

This was a hot and steamy book that brought two people together in the aftermath of tragedy. This was a definite must read.
As usual, I had the pleasure of listening to this via Ann's Youtube channel. I've been binging this series I guess. And I love each state more than the previous one.
This one is somewhat similar to the previous one in some senses. there is grief, and a bit of enemies to lovers situation and an interesting long-time attraction. The dynamic and the plot, and I was moved by it.
It's a great moderately easy read!

This book is part of the States of Love series and the main characters are widower Colt Zimmer, half owner of the Marigold Meadow horse ranch in Colorado, and his sister-in-law Sadie. Sadie was surprised to learn that her sister Maddie had left her half of the ranch to her, on her death. Sadie has always been the eternal city girl and she and Colt had always knocked heads whenever she came to visit. Maddie had died well before her time in a senseless horse riding accident leaving Colt bereft and depressed. He has continued running the ranch and now Sadie has turned up believing she should be part of it all. Colt just wants to be left alone and not reminded of his loss which Sadie does just by being there and looking so much like Maddie in some ways. Sadie is missing her older sister like mad and wants to figure out why her sister would ever want her to run the ranch with Colt what was behind her plans! Sparks fly as Colt can’t stand the sight of her city influenced self and keeps out of her way as much as possible. She doesn’t get put off by his attitude towards her, as they have never gotten on.
She hasn’t run back to the city and starts taking over some of Maddie’s tasks, such as the books and finance records. They do start to get along a little better realising that they both lost the person most important to them. Sadie can’t stop watching him out and about on the ranch, especially when he takes his shirt off as she works. She knows she shouldn’t be having those sorts of feelings for him, but can’t help herself. When she finds a note her sister left for her, it makes it a bit simpler to give in to her feelings for him. The fact that Life Chat data hackers have some messages between Maddie and her lawyer, about why she left her inheritance as she did, pulls more at Sadie than it does Colt, who is happy to not uncover the secrets behind it all. Happy just to know that Maddie wanted them to comfort each other. Sadie worries what others in the small town might think of the two of them being together, but Colt isn’t worried at all, knowing that most will support them. Matters get steamy between them and they are finally able to open up fully to each other. Sadie even talks about the day she first saw him and how Maddie stole her chance! There is a fine line between love and hate and this couple show that perfectly. Another easy to like read in the series and I look forward to many more. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

The book was ok. It was a short, fast paced read. For me, it wasn't long enough to get to invested in the characters. Other than Sadie having shiny hair, I have no idea what either character looked like. I waa glad when both Colt and Sadie stopped repeating that Maddie wanted them both on the ranch for a reason.
I felt conflicted about Sadie and Colt being together. Especially, when Colt and Maddie were supposed to have this great love. Colt was her sister's husband. Sadie was his wife's sister. Seems like there are some things that should be off limits. I kept thinking, "they aren't going to go there, are they?" Then they did. This would have been a sweet romance to me but for the fact it he had been married to her sister. There was an ewww factor I couldn't get past.
So, I dont know what either character looks like. I dont know much about either character other than Sadie wore bright multicolor clothes wth different patterns all at the same time, Colt was grumpy, AND they were too closely related to Maddie for comfort. Why couldn't Colt be a widower that had been to her sister's best friend or something? I recommend you read it and decide for yourself. I am going with 2.5 stars.

Finding Comfort
3.5 stars - Another steamy quick read to add to the series. In Sadie and Colt's story, there's heartbreak before and during as details about Maddie's death are shared. I like the premise and how things played out.
Each book is loosely connected to the prior one(s) but they can easily be read as standalones.
