This book was EVERYTHING!! My 2020 favorite thus far and couldn’t be happier. This book was more than what people make it seem. If you really dare to read give it a try. It would fucking blow your mind!

This was recommended to me by a girl I follow on Tiktok and I read her review on here. And the best advice was go in blind and that’s exactly what I did and I’m glad I did because I loved this book. Yes it’s 600+ pages and the story was written perfectly with just enough spice as well. I don’t want to say to much about this book. If you are bothered by age gaps then this book isn’t for you. I absolutely loved this book!
This was one of the most intense love stories I have ever read. I picked this book up every free chance I had because I needed more. This story is a 25 year long love story that is so beautiful and emotional.
There are things that might be triggering for some people but personally I think the authors warnings are a little over the top. The only reason this did not get 5⭐️ from me is because although it was amazing, I felt it was a little unnecessarily long and extremely predictable. Both “plot twists” were exactly what I expected was going to happen, there were zero surprises with this story.

Wow. This is making my list of most taboo books I have read!!
We have a dad's best friend/pseudo uncle/godfather falling for his best friends daughter/pseudo niece/goddaughter. They are 22 years apart in age. If that isn't taboo enough - this story gives you even more but saying what would be a pretty big spoiler.
The books begins in the past when Traci (lead female) is 12 years old. Don't let this scare you off. We need the back story and early years to see how innocent their relationship was in the beginning and how the family dynamic changed after Traci lost her mom to cancer. For those adverse to under age books - nothing sexual happens until Traci is 17 years old and she is 18 during the big stuff, so she is past the age of consent. There was ONE unreciprocated moment when she was 13ish, but it didn't bother me much and I just consider it teenage infatuation.
Most of my feelings about this book cannot be shared in a review because HOLY SHIT does it get intense. I can't spoil the surprises -- just know that this book is NOT for everyone. You have to be ok with age gap and more taboo storylines.
I would say that not much surprised me about this book. I was able to somewhat predict just about everything that happened, but man was the journey worth it. The character development and taboo factor had me hanging on to the very end making me question "how do they move forward", etc. I was not 100% how the author planned to give this couple their HEA but its pretty obvious if you really think about the only way this story could end. It needed the happen the was that it does.
This book is chunky and the first 30-40% is ~ALMOST BORING~ but necessary to the larger storyline. Stick with it until at least 50-60% if you are questioning things. By then, you won't want to put the book down and you will be so invested in Lazarus and Traci's love story.
Lazarus is just the best. I really liked his dark and broody character arc. I love how he was a different person around Traci. He does get stuck in his head for majority of the book because he feels SO GUILTY (as he should really) for being with his best friends daughter.
Five stars, bought the special edition before I was even finished reading, and can't wait to devour Nyla's back list!!!!

I’m actually a little mad that I haven’t picked up Nyla K before.
I have a few friends who’ve raved about this book for a while but I didn’t even really know what it was about.
When I found out it was a forbidden romance between a girl and her godfather I said hell yes sign me up stat.
There’s also so much more to it than that. And it was just so good.
This is a beast of a book but it felt like I blew through it.
There’s something nice about a book that spans so much time that’s also longer because it really feels like you get to grow with the characters.
Let me just say the spice in this book is also stupid hot. That’s all. Just something about it was exceptional for me.
It also made me cry. And I’m almost certain I’m getting soft but there are a lot of very emotional parts of this book too.
It’s definitely worth mentioning that I immediately picked up this book in paperback after I finished it. I don’t remember the last time I did that and If that’s not an endorsement for this book i don’t know what is.

Phenomenal book!!
Wow, I'm not sure what else to write. I was left emotionally shattered finishing this. An outstanding read full of angst, heartbreak, chemistry and enough drama to have me ignoring sleep, work and life until I had devoured every single beautiful word. One of my favourite reads of the year. If this book has caught your attention, I beg you to please read it, you will not be disappointed.

dark
emotional
slow-paced

What in the ever-loving hell did I just read I’m slightly gobsmacked and a bit blind-sided I’m not even sure quite what I think about the whole of this just yet.
What I do know though is this is very different to what I was originally expecting and the writing itself was fabulous.
It also gripped me reeled me in and invested me in the unfolding drama but and this is big but I’m still not quite sure about how we got to where we did and how I actually feel about it.
I mean I’m happy for Lazarus and Traci but
for me, it was slightly bittersweet and felt a bit like they arrived where they did due to circumstance rather than choice and that did leave a slightly sour taste in my mouth.
I can’t help thinking would Lazarus have made the same choices with a different set of circumstances and this bothered my somewhat.
So that aside I did enjoy this and it was a read that though lengthy didn’t feel like it needed condensing in any way like some books do.
I felt every word here was important and significant to the story itself, it needed to be told.
We follow Tracy from twelve in the aftermath of her mother’s death right up until her present timeline and she does deal with some serious stuff on this journey experiencing a great deal of personal growth along the way and though in some ways you could see her young years in some of her personal choices in other ways she seemed an old soul, She grew from a child to a woman during the course of this.
The relationship between Lazarus and Traci was very slow-burn which was as it needed to be to work and it was all very tastefully done.
You could feel the forbidden vein running throughout more because of who Lazarus is to her than the actual age-gap which didn’t really bother me.
I'm in an age-gap relationship myself of 20 years so this one struck very close to home for me.
As for Lazarus well he was a complicated one he’s actually a bit of a hot mess with no clue what he really wants I liked him but it was obvious he was broken in a lot of ways and Damian’s friendship was the crutch that centred him.
This has three POV’s Traci Lazarus and also a few from Damien Traci’s dad and Lazarus best friend.
Lines were blurred and the fallout here was epic this definitely was an angsty one.
I’m being vague due to not wanting to spoil but this is all about blurred lines.
I do have very mixed feelings regarding this one but I did enjoy it and the writing was top notch.
I rated this a four-star mostly due to my mixed emotions.
I’m going to be mulling over this story for a while.
