Imagine if your life happened sequentially, but you lived it out of order. Each year you might wake up a different age, with a different partner (or single), in a different home, and with different friends or people in your life. One year you could be 24, the next 57, and then 31.
Each year you might hope that this is the year time stops getting mixed up.
When you meet someone who you know later hurt you in a later year, you might be afraid to get to know them. Were there happy memories too?
This books has so many ups and downs--happy years where you don't want it to end, and hard years where things don't go the way you hoped. It is life, but in a different order. It raises questions about whether knowing how something ends makes you wish it hadn't happened? Would you live your life the same if you knew how it all turns out? Are there still surprises?
