Kearns takes a look at four presidents- Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson and presents what she believes made them great leaders.
The book is broken in to 3 parts; 1. The early years, 2. a pivotal professional moment and 3. a specific time when they each had to display leadership.
Obviously there is a ton of information about all these men but Kearns does a good job of taking this info and shedding light on a particular aspect of their lives and legacy.
8/10

I think before reading this book I didn't really know what "leadership" even meant. After reading this book I still don't know, but I know more than I did before!
This is a very enjoyable read about Lincoln, the two Roosevelts, and Johnson. I'm not sure if I learned specific things about leadership, but I loved reading about how these Presidents fought for the rights of the poor and minorities.
3.5 stars - enjoyable read about how these four incredible leaders did what they did, and what motivated them. Much was learned, much was underlined.
This is a really beautifully written book - and probably the most inspirational and useful leadership books I’ve read in years. I really enjoyed the way the author put these four presidents in historical context while detailing the beginnings, circumstances, and challenges of their lives. I’ll read this book again and will strongly recommend it to other aspiring leaders.

Wish I could give 4 1/2–a strong and inspiring analysis of Lincoln, the Roosevelts and Lyndon Johnson in terms of their leadership practices and philosophy. Although the book respectfully pointed out their weaknesses as well as strengths, the section on Abraham Lincoln is especially inspiring. Highly recommended.

I feel like DKG got a freebie on this one, just telling an intern to compile her other books into a business-class airport reader. Still didn't stop me from feeling bad about how little I've accomplished in my life, though!
