Eustace was a delightful little snot-nosed antihero and the book could have stopped after his story arc and have made a great children's tale.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is my favourite from this beloved series. I love Eustace’s story, and adore Reepicheep (definitely best in print, a Mouse’s voice is a bit much in the audio version, and I cannot come at a film version). High adventure with slave traders, dragons, danger at sea, and magical feasts, and moving stories of loyalty, love, fate, and redemption.

I go back and forth on Dawn Treader. On the one hand, I love it. It’s adventurous and wild and fun! On the other hand, it’s dark and weird and disquieting. I am enjoying revisiting these books now as an adult though.

Previously read in 2005 and before that as a child.
