What can one say about Dickens? I loved re-reading Great Expectations.
Possibly one of his darkest works. Pip is unpleasant throughout and plenty of characters (Jaggers) drop out before the book ends. Also it has a very disturbing Jewish stereotype.
Not one of his better books.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't quite finish with this one. I got bored. If you have a restless mind, this is not one for you.
This is such a beautiful story! I never read it before now, and I think it's one of those that you have to be out of your early twenties or teenage years to have enough wisdom from living to understand and appreciate it. So good!!

I expected a little more from Great Expectations. :) I loved the narrative tone at the beginning of the book but as the protagonist aged the whole story seemed to become more mundane and dissatisfying - but not in a rewarding commentary-on-life way, for me.
First classic I ever read...sniffle. (I barely understood what was going on, I think I was like, eleven.)
