I have read several stories by Geoff Johns and never once has he failed to blow my mind. It's no coincidence that he's my favorite author.

Green Lantern: Rebirth adds so much to the Green Lantern mythos. Johns turns story elements that are "oh...okay" into ones that are "oh wow, that totally makes sense."

Every character is portrayed fantastically. At first, however, I thought Batman was a little too brash and assertive, even for him. But you have to remember that the events of Identity Crisis just happened and he's overly paranoid and is hesitant to trust anyone (for good reason, I suppose).

The art is exquisite. Ethan Van Sciver is among my favorite comic book artists and Rebirth really shows why.

"Forcing your willpower into the ring. Asking it to give your thoughts...life...Is that what it's like?"
"Every time."
"Damn."

WOW. That was such a space adventure!! This is the volume that kicks off Geoff Johns iconic run which brought the Lantern Corps mythos back to its glory. When we enter the story, Hal Jordan is seen as a criminal and a terrible person not worthy of any kind of forgiveness.

Between the writing and the amazing artwork, it weaves a tale of a hero that is struggling for redemption while also asking you to notice these other heroes that feel like they're being brought back to life as well. Every time something goes their way, it actually feels like a victory and it's such a hopeful story.

I'm on to the next one and I'm so excited to find out what comes next!

Hal Jordan - the greatest of the Green Lanterns, Parrallax and the Spectre. I think I need a little bit more of a background story on how he becomes Parallax and the Spectre but even with that being said, I really liked this book. I enjoying reading about the other GLs... John Stewart, Guy Gardiner, Kyle Rayner and Kilowog, as well as the appearance of many of the other DC superheroes and villains.

I've read that this is sets up the Blackest Night series, which I have been wanting to read since I started reading comics. After reading GL: Rebirth, I'm looking forward to the series even more.

I was slightly disappointed with this graphic novel. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why. It wasn't the artwork (which was very impressive) or the characters (who were already established) I think it was the story which seemed to lack something...
