I tried for months to make it through this and I just can't do it. I don't like Rin, and I don't dislike her in an interesting way. The plot feels meandering and I don't want to read a book where I'm just trying to make it through. 

My understanding is that the arc of the trilogy is about how someone becomes terrible and willing to commit atrocities after having experienced them herself, but apparently that's not actually a story I want to read right now.

Fantastic sequel! I loved the progression of Rin's trauma and dependency (to various outlets)! I admire how unashamed how these brutal war scenes are shown, and how the characters are both numb and sympathetic towards it. The ending had me in a chokehold haha! Definitely wasn't expecting that turn (in hindsight I should've lol) but yes, will come back for more especially after that ending. Can't wait to read the last book!

Really long story, felt like three books. The battle scenes were amazing. I found this book less trigger warning heavy than poppy war, still be cautious but it hasnt given me the visceral reaction that the war scenes from the first book. My mind is swimming with who the key players are and what side is right or best for Rin. 

Offhhh truly an emotional rollercoasters. I felt true fear every time rin was afraid, the description create such dread cause you are so attached to the characters.
