The author shows an embarrassing lack of self awareness. She criticizes similar memoirs for spending too much time crying over their feelings, then proceeds to do the same. She treats her father and adoptive parents with the same disregard her birth mother showed her. The co-writer was completely unnecessary to the story except to occasionally sprinkle in context surrounding events the author has already written about extensively. It needed an editor with a machete.
