Loved meeting a wider array of the home town team. The drilling into characters we've already met and expanding of ones that have been on the periphery. I was shocked by the twist and wonder if it's been planned for in other books and I just missed it.

As always, looking forward to the next installment.

So, if you've read the book you'll understand my next comment - if you haven't, you will after... I'm going to totally ignore the 'conversaion' Anna and Charles have about mercy and Bran... cause, it's out of context and I think it might have been read wrong, however....

This book is stunningly written. The claustrophobia of Anna and Wellesley with Asil and Bran stuck where he is, against the outdoors race to get to the wildlings and see what's going on is beautifully contrasted. Brigg's ability to world build is wonderful, but it does bring Mercy up a few times and I hadn't read Mercy for quite some time, so I was a little out of the loop once or twice. But I have mercy to go back and read soon enough.

As Charles and Anna go, this is an amazing book, Brother wolf's hilariousness over Charles making him look like an idiot by overshooting his stopping distance shows the relationship a werewolf born wolf differs from those made.

Read it, you won't be disappointed, upset by events, but not disappointed. And Asil saying 'children' never ceases to make me giggle.

I love Anna and Charles and the addition of the wildlings were fantastic. It was different while still being the alpha omega series but Anna gets to go out there and be cool and all zen alpha saving wildlings and the pack in general from more loss. And the personalities of the wildlings....yes! Great book.

Charles and Anna actually get to stay home for once! Alas, it's because someone is hunting werewolves close to home. Alas, Hester and Jonesy, we hardly knew ye. Close to home was fun, as were a) the new characters and b) more screen time for characters who hadn't had it before. The plot of this one was weird, though. At one point we wondered "um, are we reading two separate novellas that just happen to be nested in the same book?" but she did bring it together.

Well, just like with the most recent Mercy book, I was quite happy to be back among the pack. Not that there's anything wrong with the fae, there's just been rather a lot of it across the two series the past few years. It's nice to be back home, so to speak. In fact, this is probably the most we've spent in Charles and Anna's pack home in ages, those two do get around!

This book brings us home, and with treachery! We meet a lot of Bran's "Wildlings", and someone has betrayed the pack. Fun times were had by all! Well, all the readers, that is!

Bit of a filler book despite that bomb about Bran and Mercy in the beginning lol. Also cool pack magic and an interesting new character, Wellesly. Why doesn't Patricia Briggs ever write old, powerful, interesting women? It's always an interesting and powerful man. Anyway, Charles & Anna are my comfort ship so I still liked it.
