Any opportunity to return to this lovable family of characters is a delight. I love them all. Only TJ Klune could balance heavier emotional and political weight of the narrative with silliness, joy, hope, and love so that the book remains a cozy fantasy. One of my favorite reads of 2025.

I love these characters so dearly. I loved getting to spend more time in their world. While it can be oversweet at times, I needed the hope, especially fierce, loving hope in the face of bigotry and cruelty.

I eagerly awaited the release of this book. Much like other TJ Klune books this book is incredibly sweet and sincere. It’s hard to not fall in love with the characters. This one and House on the Cerulean Sea hold a special place in my heart and provide me comfort and hope. 

An amazing and heartfelt read.

Most of these topics are only referenced as past events experienced by the characters but not in extensive detail. The racism and racial slurs are not directed towards real world races and cultures but rather towards the magical beings as they get othered by antagonists in the story. One character struggles with panic/anxiety attacks and the book does address some of the in the moment feelings (I.e. being trapped in a situation, not being good enough, etc.) and an outburst represented via magic.
