I have been absolutely absorbed into this world, especially as someone who has worked with children for so long. I can't wait for the (most likely) third book!

I don't know how to rate this book. The House in the Cerulean Sea was a solid 5 stars for me and if I could I'd have given it even more stars.
But I can't decide for this one.
Like while reading about the children and their character developments and everything, it was another 5 stars.
But then it became so damn preachy and tried too hard to force the writer's agenda on the reader, and then I was like okay I take one star away and it's a 4.
Then I read the parts about government trying to control people and the only fuck they had to give was to their own power and that was too relatable so I decided it's a 4.5.
But then I read the acknowledgements, and saw the writer's decision to be the Anti-J.K.Rowling and it suddenly came to light that the whole point of the sequel really Was to push the writer's agenda. And it made me so pissed that now I can't decide on how many stars I can give.
Like no offense, but I hate it when people try to slyly shove their views down my throat. And even if what Rowling does and say is wrong, at least she didn't do That.
But then again that's Klune's right to write about what he believes and wants and eventho I don't like HOW FUCKING MANY TIMES he repeated his point, I still enjoyed the books and felt like I had a wholesome home and family, somewhere I hid in from the shitty real life for the past two weeks.
So yeah I still can't decide what the fuck I wanna do with rating.
(I cursed too many times.)

Parts I loved, even more than the first one! The end felt rushed and sort of out of nowhere. Took me forever to read because it didn't captivate me enough to keep reading. And yet it was still that same beautiful word with beautiful people (on the inside) and leaves the warm and fuzzies. 🥰
