This was written by a middle aged white man and it shows. The inability to write an accurate female character is disappointing for someone who wanted to see what the most read contemporary french author wrote like. The misuse and overuse of slang gave me the ick.

What a fast paced read! Just when you think you know what happened and who was responsible.. you had to question your thoughts all over again. I found myself to love, root for, and at times find Alice annoying.

As soon as I read when Alice and Gabe were handcuffed together I thought he is the bad guy. In the end, of course we find out it was his idea, although not the bad guy. However, reading on you question her dad and Seymour. As soon as she saw Seymours picture and called her other colleague and he said she has been on medical for 3 months I knew it was all in her head. Which kinda ruined it for me a bit , wishing it was an actual event. It somewhat reminded me of The Silent Patient. I would have given this a 5 if it was real and had a different ending.
