3.5 stars - This was a fun read for me. It's the second of GM's suspense-y books that I've read (The reunion being the first) and I've enjoyed both. Sometimes the rhythm/pacing felt choppy, but that's likely due to the fact that I read the English version, which was translated from French. Or... it could have been intentional since time passes differently at the beginning of the story than at the end. I'm not sure I liked the MCs, but I felt like I understood them. This is important b/c the story doesn't venture much outside the motivations of the two MCs. And yet, a good bit happens. In fact, the story required a good bit of suspension of disbelief, but I didn't mind b/c it was fun. I feel like this book could be made into a good movie.
I love the plot twist that has been slowly reveal toward the ending, each chapter makes me looking forward for what's going to happened next and i can't stop reading it! Love it so much! Looking forward to read this author other books

Alice war eine unfassbar nervige Protagonistin, die nicht nur ihr eigenes Leben aus purer Dummheit zerstört hat. Aber hat sie auch nur irgendwie aus ihren Fehlern gelernt? Keineswegs!
Sie hat mich einfach fast die ganze Zeit nur aufgeregt.
2.5 Sterne, weil es nervenaufreibend war. Sowohl im Sinne von spannend, als auch im Sinne von "ich möchte meinen Kopf gegen die Wand schlagen" ^^

Dieses Buch war um Endeffekt ein lächerlicher Mix aus "Shutter Island" und "50 erste Dates"...Alice war eine unfassbar nervige Protagonistin, die nicht nur ihr eigenes Leben aus purer Dummheit zerstört hat. Aber hat sie auch nur irgendwie aus ihren Fehlern gelernt? Keineswegs!

Ok...this really should be rated a strong 4, but the book went full-on Hallmark movie script at the very end. Otherwise, a great and suspenseful crime thriller
