Definitely a lot of gore and gross descriptions so be forewarned. If there had been a few less characters it might have been possible to get more invested in them. As it was I had a hard time keeping a few of them straight because they were quite similar. It isn't often we get books set in a funeral home and that was interesting. I'm not sure how accurate some of the investigation and funeral home procedures were and that took me out of the story a bit. That may just be because I do read a lot of murder mysteries. Overall it was entertaining and different.  I would definitely try this author again.

*Also highly recommend the audio book. Great performance. Only thing, if you don't like a couple characters that make mouth noises... maybe not lol

DID NOT FINISH: 53%

Like many other reviews, at 50% and still getting back story with no development of the plot. And my biggest issue is the lack of development of the main family of women. So many side characters with POVs. I don’t actually mind low plot books but that needs to be replaced with strong character development. So if not a lot is happening but instead we focused on this familial relationship then I might would be more willing to stick it out but every new chapter is a new random POV that’s not moving the plot or developing our main Characters. Therefore  it leaves me just not caring about anything. There’s not even really a mystery so I have no reason to keep reading, unfortunately.
