Very enjoyable but not quite as good as The Lies...

I’m glad I picked it back up. I had quit right before the best part.

This was a very very dense second book. An entirely new setting, several ongoing schemes, multiple new political structures, dozens of new characters, layers of false identities, and a long meandering plot. With all the overwhelm it was often confusing and tiring to follow along.

However the writing remains true to the flamboyant, colourful, and vulgar style I loved from book 1. Locke and Jean are so funny together I quite enjoyed them just fucking around and finding out.

Each book in this series does read like a stand-alone THANK GOD so I can take a break and rest/rot my brain for a bit lol

I don't think this is as good as the Lies of Loch Lamorra but it's close. I love Locke and Jean as characters and this is becoming a favourite series of mine (but gosh there's so many)
