(3.5) I loved how this book explored Anne’s children and their lives and how they grow up through the years, but there were some sections in the middle of the book that I felt were unnecessary/boring to read through that made it hard to get through. I also liked how some of Anne’s friends from her younger days were brought back in! Overall, it was a very relaxing read and I liked this addition to the series!

I was disappointed by this Anne book.

It makes sense the book primarily focused on the stories of the children. However, I love this series because of Anne Shirley (now Blythe)! I understand that when one has kids, they become the center of everything and are all-consuming. However, Anne still exists as a woman and mother, and though we have a few chapters dedicated to her, I wish we could have followed her more closely as she navigates motherhood.

T.W. FATPHOBIA:
There are sprinkles of fatphobia throughout the book. It's unfortunate, to say the least.

E.g. When describing how other women have "lost" some of their youthful beauty, Montgomery often describes how they've gained weight. Unlike Anne, whom even Gilbert has commented saying he's happy his wife hasn't gained weight (She's had 7 kids, Gilbert. Let her body change. Damn!)
