My least favorite of the series so far. I did identify with Anne, though, every time she looked at her children sleeping and thought how big they were getting, determining to love and enjoy them to the fullest while they were still relatively little. But sadly this one seemed to last forever. Two more to go for the #AnneReadalong2017!

It's an Anne book, so I loved it. Susan was a hoot! L.M. Montgomery does a great job of making the children their own characters, while still staying true to Anne and Gilbert's characters.

‘“You do love me, Gilbert? I’m not just a habit with you? You haven’t said you loved me for so long.”

“My dear, dear love! I didn’t think you needed words to know that. I couldn’t live without you. Always you give me strength. There’s a verse somewhere in the Bible that is meant for you… ‘She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.’”

Life which had seemed so grey and foolish a few moments before was golden and rose and splendidly rainbows again.’

This may be the only series I will continue to re-read for the rest of my life!

Continuing my re-read of Anne Shirley books as my age (roughly) matches Anne's. This is definitely a slower book, mostly vignettes about Anne's six children and life in the seaside village of Glen St. Mary. But I enjoyed reading the last several chapters this week after some pretty heavy reading. Montgomery really does capture the everyday exquisitely. And it was funny reading about Anne's midlife crisis as I approach my 40th birthday.
