I'm pretty particular about my "dysfunctional family" stories (My gauge is "The Family Stone," which sets a high bar), and this book just didn't quite hit the mark for me. Out of all of the storylines, only one was of much interest to me (Cecily, which I think is the consensus), and I was overall underwhelmed by the movement of the plot and characters as a whole. These kinds of introspective literary novels have an audience, and I recognize that I'm "not it," but I would have still liked to have come out the other side of this reading experience feeling like I gained something from the narrative.
