I thought this was kind of boring, but appreciate that it is a legit middle grade book I could comfortably let my 6th grader read (even if the pretty/ugly themes hit me the wrong way). I might keep going with this series for her sake, but wouldn’t continue on my own.

Definitely very YA. But kinda still hits, tbh.

It was different from what I usually read but I found it entertaining enough to start reading the second book, Pretties.

I read this in middle school and loved it. I’ve come back to it as an adult and it still holds up really well.

This book surprised me by how good it was. There is constant action going on and I couldn't put it down. I really liked the message of how society views people and how people think they NEED to be beautiful just to fit in. However, this book shows how that is not the case.
I enjoyed this book so much I immediately went out and bought the next 3.

I read these in junior high I think. I was obsessed with them. One of those series I wish I could completely forget and read all over again for the first time. I wanted so badly to be a part of this world. I've always had a thing for dystopian utopia type situations. Those are always the best stories to me.

3.5 rounded up. I’m super excited to read the rest of the series because i remember this book the most and I don’t remember the other ones from when I read them as a kid. I love a dystopia so this hits that for me. I find Shay to be annoying throughout the novel and was thrilled with the ending because i feel like she got her just desserts lol

This is my favorite YA Dystopian, hands down! If you haven't read it yet, you should.
