Have you often wondered if you can trust news articles about health and medicine? Or new miracle medicines/live style choices which are supposed to fix everything? Then "Bad Science" is a book for you. Bad Science is a brilliant book that shows that scientists are not constantly contradicting each other but rather that newspapers are selling lies as news. The book also deals with nutritional science and how unscientific most of what they say is. The book is written by a doctor and gives the reader tools to validate the endless ridiculous new "scientific breakthroughs". A brilliant book!
I also recommend "Bad Pharma: How Drug Companies Mislead Doctors and Harm Patients" by same author. It is a really scary book which shows how the pharmaceutical industry constantly lies, cheats, misrepresents and lobbies to make more money. They sell new drugs that are worse than the ones we already have but make it look like they are better. This does not only harm patients but has often lead to their death. If there is one thing I have learned from this book it is that one should be skeptical of new medicines. Many of them are way worse than what was discovered 60 years ago.

This book was wonderful for breaking down common myths related to science, such as myths surrounding homeopathy, vaccinations, etc. This was mandatory reading for one of my first-year courses in University, and was definitely my favourite class-related book I've read so far.
This book is easy enough to read and understand that I would recommend it to anyone questioning what they're hearing in the media, and has enough references and scientific backing that I would recommend it to my more knowledgeable friends as well. It was interesting, funny, and overall a great book touching on important topics for the general population to know.

confirming many of the things we probably all suspected were going on and providing interesting details on some of the wrongness in the world. but.. a bit too ranty and at times the arguments felt a little childish - perhaps just the frustration of the author coming through.
as much a book about bad science communication... I wish all Facebook commenters had to read this before posting...

This opened ny eyes about my own field, an excellent read for anyone looking to defend themselves from pseudo scientific bs. Hilarious!
