J.A. Jance's Joanna Brady is always extraordinary yet relatable. In Paradise Lost she finds herself dealing with not one but three murders inside of a week in her extensive but sparsely populated county of Arizona. With grit and brains she solves all of the murders while also dealing with family crises.

Joanna and Butch are on a honeymoon in Page when she receives a call letting her know that Jenny had found a dead body. They decide to finish the night before heading back to Bisbee. While in Phoenix, Joanna performs a next of kin notification while Butch attends a friend's wedding.

We see again in the book that Joanna lets work take over her life, and missing other events.

This book started out well..and then it went downhill. It's a mystery and it turned out to be a boring one.

Paradise Lost was a good book. I'm not as excited about the Joanna Brady series, but some have been pretty good. I'd put this one at about 'okay'. It wasn't boring, but nothing in it really 'wowed' me. I did enjoy the twist at the end and if you like murder mysteries with very little profanity, then J.A. Jance is definitely for you. I'm trying to read all her books, and this one is closer to the end so it's better to start at the beginning. One of these days I'll have to create a page of series' that I like, but until then, you can always google her.
