So bummed not to have the chance to hear Solnit and Jia Tolentino in conversation after reading this.

Also bummed to have to explain feminism and #metoo to the 57-year-old man sitting next to me in a cafe asking about my book.

I really enjoyed these thoughtful and passionate essays on what it means to be a woman in this world; violence; darkness and unknowability and Virginia Woolf. Short and sweet; I’d recommend to anyone who wants to think more critically or thoroughly about feminism.

Rebecca Solnit is a marvel. Her writing and her thinking are both sharp, exact, expertly wielded. Ginsu knives. Read the essays “Men Explain Things to Me” and then “The Longest War.”
