If you have a teen( 16?) this needs to be a gift for them. For young women going into the world knowing what they’re up against, to be resilient, mindful and push for better future. For young men to learn a perspective different than their own and to stop the perpetual cycle . While it’s nearly a decade since the first published it is still relevant. The facts are staggering but her metaphor of the road and the journey gives me a bit of hope for our future.

a good solid look at the history of feminism and why the work is not done. I hope that many men will read this book as it does a thorough job of describing the systemic silencing of women and describing push back as a movement that benefits all humans, not simply the victims of misogyny.
Fast paced and full of information you may not want to acknowledge, because of the harshness and cruelty of it, but it's information all of us need to be aware of. This short book is both a shock of reality and injection of hope for the future, it tells us why we need to keep going, why we are fighting and shouldn't stop even though it seems pointless, because years ago people like us had the same doubts, but kept paving the road that we continue walking and paving today, to a better future, a better world to live in.
