For the final book of this month I read Girl Made of Stars for the #SapphicStoriesBookclub.

This book tackles sexual assault, consent, slut shaming and misogyny really wel but beware since it really gets into those topics it might be best for some of you to skip this one.
I cannot stress enough that it might be extremely triggering for some people.

With that being said, this book was beautifully heartbreaking.
The writing felt intentionally intimate and the characters were really well developed and complex.

The nuances of the narrative made this book for me.
Seeing the mixed feelings and multidimensional attitudes of the characters, struggling to understand certain events and other people’s actions, and coming to terms with your past made this book feel very real to me.

Although very accurate, all the victim blaming portrayed in this book was absolutely heartbreaking and infuriating to read.

On a completely different note, it was refreshing to see not only diversity in terms of sexual orientation, but also of gender identity and figuring out what pronouns suit the person best and how to come about telling the parents about it.
