Prior to BookTok, the only books I read were Pride & Prejudice retellings or “sequels”. It’s my favorite book of all time after all. So I went into this one with super high expectations. It wasn’t bad at all, it just wasn’t what I typically like to see out of the retellings I’ve enjoyed most. This one hovered too far away from the original story in key instances, which sometimes I do like, I just don’t think it worked for me in this one. I’ve read some other mystery P&P books before and this one just missed the mark for me. But it was still a good book and it was nice to revisit my fave characters after so long away.
