One of the weirdest adaptations of this story ever! Enjoyable at times, but overall…way too long for me, and kind of confusing on the time period they are using. It seems to me that it’s set in the Victorian era of the original novel, but I could swear that I heard them mention the internet at one point.
I started listening to it via the Libby app during my walks and train rides.

This was very different than the original, but it was so fun. I felt like the author did a character study of Pride & Prejudice and made sure her characters had the same base but had evolved differently than the original because of the differing circumstances. So the characters still felt true to the original even though they were different, if that makes sense. The entire book kept me on my toes. I think I could have gotten behind Lizzie more if she was an adult in this book instead of 17. And while for a murder mystery with a female sleuth in this time period requires some suspension of disbelief, I felt like some anachronisms were a bit too much and took me out of the story. I felt some poetic justice about Mr. Collins' fate in this book! I am curious how the other books in the series will turn out because this book felt a little bit like a cliffhanger regarding the pirates and Catherine De Bourgh, etc. Lots of red herrings, and some solid clues to lead to the truth. I had a lot of fun reading this and couldn't put it down.

na ja, das hat mich jetzt wirklich nicht umgehauen. Sonderlich unterhaltsam wars ohnehin nicht. Da langts nur für 2 Sterne.

Bad!!!! Exceptionally bad.
I'm down for revisionist history but this was sloppy and lazy work all around. My copy of the book includes an author interview where she openly admits to changing things around simply because she found it too daunting to do the proper amount of research -- to which I say, YOU CAN DO A RETELLING OF P&P AND CHANGE THE TIME PERIOD IT'S SET IN 🤦🤦🤦
Anyway. I had high hopes but this was certainly a case of "pretty cover, underwhelming contents."

I think I didn’t really like this because it was too derivative. If we’re gonna remix, then remix. This is like the Weezer cover of Toto. What’s the point?
