This is more positive and more exciting than The One and Only Ivan. I think children will enjoy this book as it has more excitement in it. The chapters are very short so they will feel like they have really accomplished reading "a thick chapter book" in no time. I have learned I just do not care for Applegate's writing .... maybe I need to try another book of hers which is very different. Alas they do not check out of the library and I wanted to discover why.....

The perfect companion novel to "The One and Only Ivan". Bob was already a lovable character in that book, so it made sense to hear his story.
The book continues on from the previous book, but Bob's POV. We also get a back story to see how he became the mutt he is today.
It was also wonderful to find out what happened to Ivan and Ruby since the end of the last book. I love reading a continuation of a happily ever after.
There's lots of heart and tender moments in this, with loads of laughs along the way too. Definitely recommend it even if you haven't read the first book. One for all dog and animal lovers.
Oh and Danny Devito does a fantastic job of narrating. He is the perfect voice for Bob!

I love to read more about characters from another book. I find Bob to be quite cute. I also find it interesting that people take a book narrated by a dog so seriously. It’s a story. And it was story enough
