i had to put this book down at one point because i was in a court waiting for jury duty to start and it was about to make me cry
this has changed my mind a bit on graphic memoirs because i thought i couldn’t connect to them as much as i could with prose, but connect with this i did! i think marjane satrapi is very talented, and i learnt so much about a country and a war i knew barely anything about before
only critique is that i wasn’t As invested in the second half as i was the first half, but still so excellent

While I don’t love graphic novels (I just have a hard time connecting to the story!), this was a great read. I learned a lot Iran’s recent history that I was simply unaware of before. This book called out my own internal biases, which is always uncomfortable and needed. I love the conversations it has inspired, and I hope it keeps me thinking for a long time. All in all, 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Enjoyable enough but was only reading it for college, no longer have the book in my possession
