This was so gripping I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t want it to end, which feels weird to say about a non-fiction book about someone’s life. Very beautiful and definitely a story that will stay with me for a long time.

A great overview of the life of a young woman in post-Revolutionary Iran, especially since it is from the perspective of someone whose family was within the intelligentsia and could provide a counter to the Islamic narrative.

I was forced to read this book for a creative writing class. As with most of the forced literature I encounter, I wasn't really feeling it. I mean, this book was okay at the time. I don't know why I made myself read this again. Probably an attempt to change my mind. But nope, it's still "okay".
One of the earliest books I have read and it has stayed with me for decades now.
