I feel like the poems are repetitive and it doesn't really have a clear red line.

I have no idea how to rate poetry so I will not. It is so incredibly personal and it either speaks to you or it does not. There was a LOT that did not speak to me in this but there were at least a dozen poems in this collection that I dog-eared to reread over and over.

This is a quick read but not a light one. Kaur explores topics like grief, heartbreak, identity, trauma, rape, immigration, and femininity. Some of the chapters were hard for me to get through and overall, Kaur’s style isn’t my vibe. But I’m still glad I read her work and I can appreciate how modern and accessible her poetry is.

Also, there are definitely some gems in this book—her poem “broken english” deserves 5 stars! It’s amazing! Other favs are “my god,” “accent,” and “unibrow.”

I tried. I really tried. But I just can't accept this as poetry.
I still see it as a motivational quotes book.

Sure she did had some really nice thoughts and it is something that I liked, but that maybe happened 3 times during my reading. I applaud to her for creating big following and being successful but I will now stop trying to like her poetry.

Really liked this one, way deeper and darker than I thought it’d be but in a good way
