It's slow to read for the first 2/3 of the book, it starts twisting and turning after that and the end leaves the reader a bit bewildered and anxious about the next book. Not her best, good. Hoping that the rest of the series improves. Still excessive use of the word F--- which is fine but it's like a word just discovered by a child and is somehow used at least once a page.

Severe lack of diversity.

Well, SJM has done it again!
I needed a day to let those last 100 pages (but especially those last 10 pages or so) sink in.

We more or less continue where we left after book 1 - Hund and Bryce try to live a normal life that will not catch the attention of the Asteria (but of course that's not how their lives work). In addition to chapters from Bryce and Hunt's pov we also get some chapters from Ruhn, Ithan and Tharion.

At the beginning, it was a bit too much of chaning POVs, but once the story lines converged, it's no bother at all anymore. Even though the story seems a bit slow with the search for a missing kid that the rebells (and apparently every one else) wants to find first, the pages fly by.
With twists and turns (some of which will leave you staring at a wall ... and I can't believe that SJM pulled several twists that are quite similar but that I did not see coming) and so more information to speculate with about what will happen in this book and the next, it's a very entertaining read.

I just love the relationship between Bryce and Hunt - they just understand and get each other. They have each others' backs. They may have some disagreements, but they are a united front. And Bryce's relationship with Ruhn (and his friends) as well. It's just so great to see all of them interact more and how much they support each other.

The theme for this book seemed to be friendships/relationships and the duality of things. There were so many things (I'm not gonna name anything for fear of spoiling anything) that had two paths for a lack of a better word. There was always the old way things have been done, but there is an alternative to this habit/structure/person.

I can't wait for book 3!
