Love a space opera! Love a gay space opera even more! I loved the characters in this story, especially the two male leads. I wanted to wrap them up in bubble wrap & protect them from everything even though they don’t need it. I’m excited to see another side of this world with the companion novel that’s coming out later this year!

Kiem is baby. That’s it. I will take no arguments. For a sci-fi its good, a little basic, but all the bases are covered. I thought the idea of the Tau Field to be interesting, but I could have used some more explanation of the politics within the world.

A fun mix of romance and political-intrigue-and-conspiracy-in-space! I appreciated how Kiem and Jainan's different personalities, and strengths, weaknesses, and fears, shaped their interactions together and with others. Beautifully crafted.

There were a few times that things felt like they would have been "solved" societally -- or at least would be approached more progressively, perhaps -- considering other aspects of the worldbuilding with regards to gender, sexuality, technology, communication, etc.

Definitely not what I was expecting but loved it none the lesser! I walked in ready for a queer space adventure and got all that with a deep political scandal and incredibly diverse world building. I think the only sore spot I had with this book is wishing there were more soft moments mixed in with the political unrest and domestic trauma but again I think that's more on my end expecting this to be a simpler feel good read as opposed to the more emotionally charged story it was. I had some difficulty keeping up with all the more minor characters but I dont think that was supposed to fill any voids in story but to instead enhance maybe certain scenes. Great story overall!
