I've always read a lot of romance novels and I've watched as the writing has changed over time to become more and more explicit with the sex scenes coming to the forefront of the novels and everything else being more of a back drop. Many romance novels these days seem to fall within the "Plot What Plot" category and all dialogue, plot, character development is merely intended to string one sex scene to another.

Somewhere along the way, many authors seemed to not realise that the sex scenes are somehow less compelling and interesting when you don't know or care about the characters in question ... it just becomes a mass of words writing about writhing, thrusting, heaving and these days - sucking like a vacuum cleaner...

Book 1 and 2 of this series by Katee Roberts were certainly a welcome change to most of the other novels in this now well-trodden genre. I was impressed with how well she fleshed out the characters, situations and relationships in a way that made me actually know and care about them. Thus, the sex scenes when they happened - felt way more compelling.

Thanks Netgalley for a copy to read and review.

I enjoyed this sugary sweet romance. Avery Yeung decides her biological clock is ticking loudly and decides to have a baby. Her mother passed of cancer at 28, and her sister had a hysterectomy at 28 because of a cancer scare. Deciding that she has little time to find a baby's daddy, she decides to go invitro fertilization and get a frozen pop daddy. After deciding who her donor is, she announces to her best friend Drew Flannery that she is going to have a baby.
Drew is a policeman and has a very possessive streak when it comes to his bestie. When Avery drops the bomb on him, that she is having a baby then he makes the decision that she cant do this alone and she needs his help. I loved their chemistry, and the erotic parts were off the charts. The drama was kept to a minimum and overall I enjoyed the story. Lovely read for someone who is tired of all the angst in books, and just wants something entertaining. Four stars of entertainment.

I like friends to lovers stories and this was an enjoyable entry into that field. I like this author and this was a typically good book by her.
