After hours of slog to reach chapter five, and characters so flat I wondered if I'm still introduced to new characters or if I encountered them before, I'm finally giving up.
Don't bother, just read the low rating reviews and trust them. I'm sure the wiki summary is more interesting than the actual book. If the story isn't captivating enough to look forward to grab the book and be immersed in it, but instead feels so daunting that you'd rather doomscroll, what's even the point of persevering...

This ruled. Throws you in the deep end with little or no exposition, but before you know it you're rooting for the Scylvendi guy (fantasy steppe nomad) to succeed in his mission, which is 50% revenge, 50% brokeback mountain.

Won't give a rating, as I gave up on it about 4 chapters in.
I know a lot of people love it - but I was bored out of my mind and had to relisten over and over to take anything in, as nothing was actually happening - no plot, just lots and lots of talking. And while good dialogue will keep me entertained - this felt like it was trying to be philosophical, but didn't manage to catch me that way either.
I returned it.
