➽ Since Volume 12 ended on a mean cliffhanger, I was excited to dive into this volume! Just as Twilight's identity is about to be exposed, Nightfall steps in and absolutely pummels their enemy. I usually don't like her obsession with Twilight, but here I liked seeing her passion and how it was what achieved victory. While Wheeler only cared about himself, Nightfall had someone else to fight for. I love how Sylvia teased her about it, clearly seeing through her facade!
➽ However, I feel like Yuri is getting more suspicious, so Loid isn't out of danger yet. We also get introduced to one of Yuri's coworkers, Chloe, whom I loved immediately! She actually confronts Yuri about his reckless behavior and is understandably a bit weirded out by his obsession with his sister. It was about time someone stood up to Yuri!
➽ At school, Anya is still working hard at her 'friend plan' when she finds out Damian wants to give her a gift. These two are hilarious, especially with the miscommunication thrown in. Becky is convinced she's helping a great romance bloom, while Damian's friends are prepared for a duel. With the final exams getting closer, Anya's working hard to do well, so she doesn't get separated from Damian and Becky. I loved how Yor and Anya helped an old, confused man who turned out to be their neighbor! It was sweet seeing how he helped Anya with her schoolwork and how she almost has two adopted grandparents now! Another highlight was Yor defending her coworker Millie at the charity event and impressing everyone by knowing Melinda. It's about time her coworkers show her more respect!

Happy to finally get the next volume from the library, full of the expected heartfelt moments and truly absurd humourous moments, with the unexpected gut punch of Mission 91, which really got me. Starting with an event for wounded veterans bringing a number of characters together, it got heavy and eloquent in a way that stunned me: turning an argument about who lost what in the war, who deserves respect and who should shut their mouth, into a discussion of suffering and empathy, of the great leveller of grief, of the ways that it manifests, among them rage, the idea of accepting responsibility, but also forgiveness. I'm left to wonder if there's a cultural context or personal history of the author/artist that is evolving his work, but regardless I'm glad he decided to share this chapter in particular.
Other highlights:
The handler admitting part of her latest visit in disguise is the desire to wear a nurse's uniform
Bond trying his best to metamorphose into different animals to impress a post-zoo-visit Anya
Character design for Grandpa Siggy + Anya finally catching a break when it comes to tutors
