I loved this book, just like I loved all the others. I enjoy coming across the characters again and again and getting to know them better. In this book, I especially enjoyed getting to know Corbin better, and getting to know Clara, Edmund, and Alice.

Corbin is so sweet. I loved his shy, reserved personality. It’s not something often seen in regencies. I throughly enjoyed this book and loved Corbin’s dynamic with the children and the way they knew he was a safe space for them. I loved watching Clara learn to trust Corbin and open her heart to him.

I did think the ending was a bit awkward. Corbin and Clara seemed to revert back into the shells that they had so wonderfully come out of over the course of the book. The added “will they, won’t they” was unnecessary but overall, I loved this story.

*There were a lot of references to physical abuse (adult and child) if that is a trigger.

This is one of my very favorites in the Jonquil brother series. Corbin is shy - but has a heart of gold. Clara is an incredible woman overcoming nearly impossible odds. Their love story is full of bravery, unseen strength, tenderness, and plenty of humor.

Cute book. The love interest, Corbin, is not your typical hero. He's shy and... awkward? So, in some ways I found him pretty relatable.
It was a fun love story, a little different than some others in this particular genre.
My one complaint- There are like a million brothers and they were pretty much all introduced at the same time. It made it a bit hard to keep track of who was who. But other than that, it was fun.

I found this to be a cute addition to the series. Corbin was endearing as a socially inept cinnamon roll which made the story more interesting.

Corbin may be the most relatable and genuinely good brother of all the Jonquil men. But who doesn’t love a man who treats children who are t his own as if they are the most precious things in the world?

Corbin has a hard time expressing himself and feeling comfortable in social situations. After meeting the widowed Mrs. Clara Bentford he begins to wish this wasn't the case, that he could talk to her without freezing up. Clara is in hiding, but she would give anything for her children to be happy and safe. As their paths begin to cross more, Clara past begins to threaten her new life more and more. But Clara can feel safe around Corbin and his family, and evem more importantly, she feels that her children are safe with them.

I really like how shy and awkward Corbin was. As a socially awkward person I love when the main character of a book isn't always incredibly witty and clever when interacting with other characters. Let me read about some awkward little potatoes every now and again and I'll be happy. I found his failed attempts to follow his brothers' advice to be cute and amusing.

I felt that the children were the stars of the show, they were cute and they knew it.

Buuut this has been my least favorite of this series so far. The story felt a little predictable. Clara is terrified of men but this bumbling awkward man doesn't feel threatening to her. After a bit of a Pride & Prejudice type beginning where she think he's arrogant and condesending. He thinks that she'll never be attracted to a simple man like him. But with two very similar villains out and about making life harder for Clara, he becomes her knight in shining armor and
Spoilerfor once has no issue with stuttering or finishing his thoughts when he's protecting her.
Then we have an entire cast of shining knights that come riding in on their trusty horses to save Clara from her legal predicament and intimidate the villians were their bravery and manliness. Ugh, no thanks. Then it's pretty insta lovey and there's a whole outpouring of emotion and it's just not really my cup of tea.

But besides being a little inclined to storyline tropes, it is pretty engaging and a quick read.

Read in high school. I remembered liking it but not loving it. Probably won’t read again as I’m not super into regency romances anymore.
