5 stars just because I read this book at a strange period of my existence and it made me truly think about the way I live.
Food for thought, a reflective read and sometimes a headache (skip descriptions if you don't trust the author, he sometimes exaggerates)

Print is hard on the eyes, will absolutely go about getting a different copy

"Sólo amanece el día para el que estamos despiertos. Queda más día por amanecer. El sol no es sino una estrella matutina".

While I have no doubt that living in solitude, away from society would definitely allow you to see life in a new light. That doesn't mean writing about it will be interesting.

While I enjoyed the book, am happy that I read it, and perhaps subconsciously learned something, it's not the kind of book that I will be rushing to read again.

He’s self aware that his philosophy is very much alienating in the introductory pages, and his thoughts are narrow minded yet this book is just complaining that Americans are too lazy, if they can’t chop down a tree and make a chair out of it they should grow a pumpkin and use that as a stool… I’m not kidding that’s what he says in the book. I’ve never heard of someone using a pumpkin as a foot stool.
