I can definitely see see the comparison to Emily Henry. It also reminded me of Claire Christian's West Side Honey as both have fun dancing scenes but where Cleo has a sexual awakening/adventure, in Emergency Exit Only, Amelia is working through career options/learning about who she is without her fear. Although there is a romantic strands, I would call this contemporary fiction, not a romance (the cover made me think it would be more romancey).

Completely biased review as I know the author personally but I really really loved this story! It was inspiring to see how many different jobs and careers Amelia got the opportunity to try out whilst trying to ascertain her own strengths and weaknesses. Lots of inspiring anecdotes on how facing your fears can widen your boundaries and create the possibility of new experiences! Stop overthinking it and just do it! As Amelia would say!

Emergency Exit Only
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Amelia up and quits her job in the most dramatic way and storms out the emergency exit, a door she has been facing every day from her shitty desk at her mundane job. She doesn’t know what she wants from her life and takes the next few months trialling out different jobs to find her true calling, and in the mean time she unpacks some serious life traumas and really discovers herself and where she is at in both love and life.
What a feel good novel. This book honestly made me so happy inside. The transformation of the main character Amelia from start to finish and the depth and detail that we get to know her was incredible. It felt like moving through life with your best friend. It was both heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. A story of discovering who you truely are.
